There are many small technology firms in Floyd County, the first of which was Citizens Telephone Cooperative, which recently celebrated its 100th anniversary. Established to provide telephone service when the County was looked over by the Bells, Citizens is now a regional telecommunications provider with local services as robust and affordable as anywhere in Virginia.

Citizens provides an advanced and scalable 200 Gbps low-latency backbone on an open access network to key peering points in northern Virginia and the Southeast. Telecommunications services are also available in Floyd County from other providers including AT&T, Cox, and Mid-Atlantic Broadband.
